Can you capture 14 billion years of history in one timeline?

Histography.io is a fabulous data visualisation project by Matan Stauber. We found it care of a tweet from @greenwellys. You can explore 14 billion years of history using the interactive timeline. You could be there a while – unless you click on “women’s rights” that is. Just 258 entries since the Big Bang. Riots have more at 351! And surely A Vindication of the Rights of Women should earn Mary Wollstonecraft a spot in 1792!?

It’s more a problem of categorisation for the visualisation than a reflection of content on Wikipedia though. And we’re not blaming the designer. We love a dataviz and it’s a beautiful thing. Enjoy.
